The Historic Heart of Moravia
The 2nd largest Czech city, Brno is a centre of Moravian culture, surrounded by lush countryside. The twin spires of the hilltop Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul dominate the neighbouring Bishops Palace, while the nearby square houses the Moravia Museum and Reduta Theatre, both the oldest in the country.
Beneath the square is Brno Underground, a maze of medieval tunnels and cellars that once housed wine produced in the surrounding region. There is an annual wine festival here, but the largest event is the Ignis Brunensis fireworks competition by Brno Lake to the north-west, lined by trees that hide Veveří Castle.
A less grand castle - Špilberk - sits on a hill in the city centre. At its feet is Masaryk University, the 2nd largest in the Czech Republic. The city’s Mendel University is named after the genetics founder who was abbot of St Thomas’ Abbey, where a museum commemorates his work.
The nearby Brno Exhibition Centre is of functionalist design, but the most important example of this architectural style is UNESCO World Heritage-listed Villa Tugendhat. On the opposite side of the city is Masaryk Circuit, home of the Czech MotoGP.

We went to the park around the castle, checked out few recommended food spots and also Vida! which is an amazing thing to do if you travel with kids, highly recommended.

Brno was a busy town but not really tourist oriented.. it had some amazing history and beautiful buildings to look at so best to do your homework first so you get an understanding so as to self guide as it’s quite expensive otherwise.. we stayed in an apartment 2minute walk from central station which was the perfect location and well priced . You can walk everywhere unless you wish to drive /bus out to some of the other buildings of interest 20-30 klms out .. lots of underground tunnels to explore in which you can go on line and get a group pass discounted .. would only recommend a day visit here ..LisaAustralia

There are several supermarkets close to this place where you can get daily stuff or you can go and explore city centre with all these fancy coffeeshops, restaurants and similar things.
